Muddy Fork announces new bike project

From garden forks to suspension forks – Muddy Fork, Retford’s ‘Gardening for Wellbeing’ mental health project based at the Idle Valley Nature Reserve, is delighted to announce a new project in partnership with Retford’s Bike Pedlars. Bike Pedlars have previously supported Muddy Fork in providing a child’s bike as a prize for a Christmas competition and this new undertaking signals the setting up of an ongoing working relationship between the two.
Current plans are that from the end of March (check for details) Bike Pedlars mechanics will be in attendance at the Muddy Fork garden on Tuesday afternoons from 1.00pm, providing free bike maintenance workshops. Funding will be provided by Cycle UK. Muddy Fork and Bike Pedlars invite anyone over 18 who is struggling with stress, anxiety, depression – all of which are common experiences, the more so since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic – to ‘get on the wellbeing cycle’. The combination of spending time in the peaceful, green setting of the garden, meeting other people with an interest in bikes, and getting involved in constructive activity with a positive outcome is sure to lift anyone’s mood.
Bike enthusiasts who are interested are invited to drop in and see what’s going on – take your own bike for an MOT, or advice on maintenance, or just go along and muck in. All are welcome. More information can be found on the Muddy Fork website, www.muddyfork.org, or you can email enquiries@muddyfork.org or leave a message on 01777 567005.
