Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dance Group

Now being organised by the dancers themselves as a DIY dance, the Morton Ballroom Afternoon Tea Dances got off to a flying start in January. Several former dancers have returned to dancing, having not taken part since before the Covid pandemic. With reduced costs, this will help to ensure the stability of the dances in the longer term.

With two dancers manning the table for the collection of the entry fee and selling raffle tickets, and a third providing and running the music, it really has become a DIY dance. The usual mix of music types – Ballroom, Latin, Old Time and Sequence, with an odd Jive thrown in – allowed all dancers present to participate. The Morton Dances are, however, predominately Ballroom.

As usual, there was a refreshment break at 3.00pm, when the raffle was also drawn.

“We came back,” said one of the returning dancers, “not because we are good dancers, but because we missed the social side. We were missing seeing some good friends!” This gives you an idea of the atmosphere at Morton Ballroom.

The next Morton dance is to be held on Thursday 16th March. All dances are held at Morton Village Hall, Walkerith Road, Morton, Gainsborough DN21 3AL. For further information please contact 07581 531595 or paul@paulwillcock.com.
