Morton Afternoon Ballroom Tea Dance Group

by | 8 May 2025 | Dancing, Hobbies, Retford

Morton Afternoon Ballroom Tea Dance Group hold dances on the third Thursday of each month, starting at 2.00pm and finishing at 4.30pm, with an approximately 25-minute interval for tea, biscuits and conversation. The interval also provides time for announcements and the raffle draw, with prizes generously donated by members.

The venue is Morton Village Hall, Walkerith Road, Morton, Gainsborough. It has its own car park and offers all the usual facilities for group activities. Entry costs £5.00 per person, which includes interval refreshments.

Music for the dances is provided by CD, and includes the ballroom Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep, along with Latin American dances such as the Rumba, Cha Cha, Tango and occasionally a Samba. A small selection of Sequence and Old Time dances, such as the Valeta, also feature in each half of the session. These events are as much about socialising as dancing, with plenty of chat between numbers.

Dates for the next four months are Thursday 15th May, Thursday 19th June and Thursday 17th July. There will be no dance in August.

The group is welcoming and friendly, open to dancers of all abilities. As one member says, ‘Strictly we are not – enjoy ourselves, we do!’
