Mayflower WI

by | 10 January 2018 | Retford, WI

Mayflower WI was formed earlier this year and membership has risen to nearly 30 members. A varied and entertaining programme of speakers and demonstrations has been enjoyed. New friendships have been formed and old acquaintances renewed. There really is something for everyone.

Members meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm at The Hub, 11 Churchgate, Retford. You can come for a couple of meetings at a cost of £5.00 each, before you make up your mind about becoming a member. Contact Louise on 07880 948941 for more details.

In October, members and guests had a very informative talk by Dominic Schad from Muddy Fork. Muddy Fork run therapeutic gardening and conservation projects based at Idle Valley Nature Reserve and at Babworth. They also grow willow used for fencing and baskets. Members attempted to make lengths of willow into star shapes with varying degrees of success and much laughter.

On Wednesday 13th December, the group is holding a Nosh and Natter Christmas meeting. There will be a ‘bring and share’ meal to enjoy, card crafts to make and a Secret Santa. New guests are welcome at what will be a fun evening.
Supporting the Retford Christmas Market, Mayflower WI is holding a cake stall on 26th November from 10.00am to 1.00pm outside The Hub in Churchgate. It’s a chance to buy delicious cakes made by their members. The group is also taking part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Swithun’s Church so look out for their tree when you are having a wander around.
