Mayflower Sanctuary’s fundraising projects are getting well under way this year and so far, the weather is being kind to us. The Scrufts Dog Show in July was a beautiful day and a huge success, it was lovely to see all the dogs that we have rehomed with their new families. Big thank you to all volunteers and everyone that attended.

The charity is holding a Ladies Night on 11th August, to be held in reception at Mayflower. There will be a representative, Jess, from Freedom Aloe Vera products and beautiful candle company Finishing Touches will bring along handbags, scarves, jewellery and much more. Please come along for a fun evening including coffee/tea and cake. There will be a raffle and great prizes. We are asking that if you would like tickets they are £3 per person. Or just come along and pay on the door, but please call the sanctuary on 01302 711330 or 07969 203206 to let us know you are coming. It will just give us a rough idea how many people we are catering for on the night.

The next table top sale is on 16th September at the Scout Headquarters in Tickhill, there are a few tables left and the charge will be £12 per table. Please call Janice if you would like to reserve one on 07590 455340.

Tracy, one of our senior kennel carers, thought up a brilliant idea to raise sponsorship. She lived in a kennel for 24 hours, she even dressed up like one of our canine friends. They had great fun, it went out on all of the local radio stations and she stayed in a kennel all day and all night. She was probably stir crazy by the time she was let out. But she raised lots of money, which is the most important thing.

Just a quick few lines about the procedure you will have to go through if you would like to adopt one of our dogs at the Mayflower Sanctuary in Bawtry. It is always an idea to go and visit your chosen dog a couple of times before eventually taking them home. You will have to have a home check, one of our volunteers will come and check that you have a five foot fence and your garden is fully secure. We also need to know that your chosen dog will be living inside with you and not living outside in a kennel day and night. Our volunteer will also have a chat to make sure you have chosen the correct dog for your lifestyle. If all is well the following Saturday you will then have to attend an induction talk by one of our experienced dog listeners, which most people find fascinating and very interesting.

Have a great summer but don’t forget to keep your furry friends cool on hot days with access to plenty of water. If you would like any further information on any of the above please call 07969 203206 and if you would like further information regarding our adoption process please call 01302 711330.
