The Markham Clinton Community Project (MCCP) recently held a very well-attended music night at All Saints Church featuring the talented Stacey Lynn. Her wide selection of songs captivated the audience from start to finish.

Additionally, a Community Litter Pick held on Saturday 5th April was met with enthusiasm, with a welcome ice cream van visit at the church providing a sweet end to the day while restoring the beauty of the villages.

Upcoming events

Every Wednesday, there will be an Art and Crafts session alongside a Knit and Natter meeting from 10.30am to 12.30pm at a nominal charge of £8.00 and £3.50 respectively. These sessions include tea, coffee, and cakes, with the Knit and Natter group donating proceeds to Hope Charity for the Homeless in Worksop. Donations of hats, gloves, jackets, and coats can be dropped off at the church or at the School House in West Markham, opposite the church.

Every Monday, a Keep Fit session led by Katie will be held from 10.30am to 11.15am for £7.00.

Quiz Nights at the Pub with No Beer on Friday 16th May and Tuesday 4th July from 7.00pm, offering a fun and interactive way to spend the evening.

On Sunday 4th May, a Pre-Loved Sale will begin at 10.00am, with tables available at £8.00 each. Setup starts at 9.00am and all pitches and tables must be purchased in advance.

A VE Day event celebrating the 80th anniversary will be on Thursday 8th May and a Heritage Meeting is planned for Thursday 15th May from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. On Sunday 18th May, Holy Communion will be held at 10.30am, with refreshments served afterward.

Animal lovers can look forward to a Pet Service on Saturday 24th May at 10.30am, where members are invited to bring their well-behaved four-legged, furry, or feathered companions, followed by refreshments for all.

Holy Communion services are scheduled for Sunday 20th July at 11.00am and Saturday 17th August at 11.00am (with refreshments served post-service). Heritage Open Days will be held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September.

An annual Remembrance Service is set for Sunday 9th November. This special day will feature the Armistice Remembrance Service, followed by a community lunch with a distinctive twist. The event will see the return of the fabulous Stacey Lynn, who will sing popular 1940s songs during the service from 10.30am to 11.30am. Tea and cake will be served afterward, with the celebration lunch beginning at 12.15pm. Tickets for the lunch are priced at £10.00 per head, including entertainment.

In the summer, the project anticipates hosting another successful concert at Tuxford School following the sell-out event last year. Details will be announced on the MCCP website.

The MCCP team urges everyone to book their places for the quizzes, Pre-Loved Sale, and the WWII Music Luncheon soon, as spaces are limited and reservations help with planning each event.

All events are held at West Markham Church unless otherwise stated. The MCCP welcomes donations, helpers, and raffle prizes, and is grateful for the continued support which helps to preserve these historic buildings
