Markham Clinton Community Project

by | 7 March 2024 | Community Event, Community facility, Retford

A great night was had at the Markham Clinton Community Project (MCCP) Burns Night Supper. MCCP managed to book a fantastic bagpiper, Pete Tait, to come and welcome the guests in, and pipe the haggis in. Pete was brilliant and played Highland Cathedral, Auld Lang Syne and many other favourites.

There were traditional Scottish blinis to start, followed by haggis, neeps and tatties. Josephine Peacock very kindly stepped in to read The Address to the Haggis. To finish there was Tipsy Scottish Laird Trifle, made with raspberries and whisky, followed by traditional Scottish cheeses with oatcakes and a complimentary wee dram of whisky.

Thanks go to the MCCP Committee for all their hard work – the church looked amazing, and the food was delicious – and to the regular helpers, for stepping in as they always do.
