Retford Athletic Club (RAC), founded over 40 years ago, caters to senior runners and young athletes aged between seven and 18 years old across run, jump, and throw disciplines. There is currently more demand for places than the coaching base can support, so the club is looking for new volunteers.
Could you inspire the next generation of athletes? RAC is calling on dedicated individuals to help shape the future of young athletes in the community. Coaching goes beyond teaching physical skills; it’s about fostering confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for sport.
Opportunities available
The club is in urgent need of volunteer coaches, especially on Monday evenings. Training sessions run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Mondays and Thursdays. Whether someone is interested in sprinting, long-distance running, throwing, or jumping, there’s a discipline for them.
Benefits of coaching
Coaching with RAC offers countless rewards. Watching athletes grow and succeed under one’s guidance is immensely fulfilling. Coaches will develop valuable skills such as leadership, communication, and strategic thinking. Coaching keeps individuals connected to the sport they love and provides an opportunity to stay active and engaged.
Additionally, coaches will be making a direct contribution to the local community, becoming role models for aspiring athletes.
How to get involved
Those interested can reach out to express their interest, and the club will guide them through the process. The club offers support and access to training programmes to help coaches gain the knowledge and skills needed to coach effectively. It’s not necessary to be an expert to start – just bring enthusiasm and a commitment to making a difference.
Take the first step today and join the Retford Athletic Club coaching team. Together, the club can inspire the champions of tomorrow and ensure the athletes have the support they need to thrive.
