Lunchtime Organ Recitals at St Swithun’s, Retford

by | 18 September 2025 | Group meeting, Local Experiences, Music, Retford

This year’s Lunchtime Organ Recitals at St Swithun’s Church in Retford have been very well supported, with audiences of between 40 and 60 at each performance. The combination of a fine organ and top-quality professional organists continues to prove a winning formula.

The recital this month will be given by Justyna Posluszna, originally from Poland, where she studied at the Paderewsky Music Academy in Poznań and took part in organ and chamber music festivals. She has performed in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria, and since 2009 has lived in Lincoln, where she is organist at the Catholic Church of SS Peter and Paul.

Her programme will include works by J.S Bach, Edouard Batiste, César Franck, Enrico Bossi and Yannick Merlin, finishing with the famous and tuneful Sortie in E flat by Lefébure-Wély.

The recital begins at 1.00pm on Thursday 18th September and will be preceded by light refreshments from 12.15pm. Admission is free, with a voluntary retiring collection that goes entirely towards the organ fund for the maintenance of this fine instrument.

There is just one more recital this year, on Thursday 16th October.
