Thursday 16th October at 1.00pm is the final opportunity this year to hear the superb organ at St Swithun’s Church in Retford, and they are fortunate to welcome the world-famous Colin Walsh for this grand finale to 2025. Colin holds the title of Organist Emeritus at Lincoln Cathedral and has also been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Lincoln.
He will be performing works by César Franck, John Stanley, JS Bach, Freixanet, Carvalho, Lidon and Dubois.
As usual, the church will be open for light refreshments from 12.15pm. Entry is free, with voluntary donations invited on departure.
Attendance at this year’s recitals has been excellent, surpassing numbers seen in many cathedrals. Planning will soon begin for the 2026 series, which will continue on Thursdays at 1.00pm – clearly the ideal time.
