Lunchtime organ music at St Swithun’s

Lunchtime organ music at St Swithun’s Church in Retford continues on Thursday 21st September at 1.00pm with a visit by Justyna, who first played at the Church in 2013. As usual, light lunches will be available from 12.15pm. Admission is free, but a donation is welcome because it goes towards the maintenance of this superb organ.

Justyna Maria Posluszna was born in Poland. She graduated in piano and organ at A Rubinstein Secondary Music School in Bydgoszcz (Poland) under F Templin. She then studied organ at the Paderewsky Music Academy in Poznan and during her study she took part in several international organ competitions. She was finalist of 3rd Sweelinck International Organ Competition in Gdańsk and semi-finalist of 2nd Nowowiejsky International Organ Competition in Poznan where she was given an honourable mention for performing one of the pieces of Nowowiejsky.

She took several masterclasses under Prof Wolfgang Zerer, Jaroslav Tuma and Jurgen Rieger in Goteborg, Stuttgard, Berlin and Prague. During her study and after graduation she worked as piano, organ and accompaniment teacher in the Secondary Music School in Szamotuly, Poland. At the same time she was performing as a harpsichordist with a chamber orchestra – La Quattro Staggioni. She took part in many organ festivals in Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Austria.

Since 2009 she has been living in Lincoln where she works in the hospitality industry and helps at St Giles (Lincoln) and Our Lady of Lincoln as an organist.
