This month, your local RSPCA Animal Centre is focusing on beautiful rescue Lurchers and Greyhounds.
They are independent thinkers, intelligent and highly trainable, and they love a puzzle, such as where have you hidden the biscuits. Keeping Lurchers and Greyhounds in tip top condition takes a lot less effort than you would think. Calm and affectionate, they make a super family pet and are intensely loyal.
They have a keen instinct for exercise, they are speedy but only use it in short bursts where they use up usually all of their energy in one sprint and then promptly retire to a comfy bed. They are gentle and affectionate but love a good tug o’ war or to chew a toy in between naps.
They sleep in really weird positions — usually on their back in a sunny spot on the floor, or your couch, with their head twisted awkwardly and their legs contorted. You get accustomed to it, but at first it can be quite startling; yes they are comfortable.
They are also adorable! From their bright glossy eyes, their pricked up ears, and their big goofy noses to their long, swishy waggy tails, Lurchers and Greyhounds are hard not to fall head over heels in love with once you get to know them. Come and see our beautiful boys and girls, they are waiting just for you.
