Lound Bird Club welcomes anyone interested in birds and wildlife at Idle Valley Nature Reserve. The group aims to share knowledge and enthusiasm for birds alongside an interest in wider wildlife species.
The club runs a year-round programme of guided walks around Idle Valley Nature Reserve and other venues. The walks are free and usually last up to three hours at a gentle pace, allowing participants to enjoy seeing and hearing birds and other wildlife.

Sunday 14th June, 9.00am to 12.00pm
A visit to RSPB Langford Lowfields near Collingham, Newark. The reserve is home to many bird species and other wildlife, including occasional sightings of otters. Participants should note there are no facilities on site and that the walks may include some longer routes. There is a £3.00 car parking charge for non-RSPB members. Meet at Langford Lowfields car park at 9.00am.
Sunday 19th July, 9.00am to 12.00pm
Meet outside the entrance to the Idle Valley Centre for a walk around the reserve.
Saturday 15th August, 9.30am to early afternoon
A visit to RSPB Frampton Marsh near Boston. The reserve offers opportunities to see a wide variety of bird species. Participants should note the walk may include some longer distances. Meet at Frampton Marsh car park at 9.30am.
From September through to April, the club also holds illustrated evening talks on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Sutton cum Lound Village Hall. Talks begin again in September at 7.00pm, with entry costing £3.00. The new programme for September 2026 to April 2027 will be published soon.
There is no membership fee to join the club. Members receive the monthly Idle Valley Nature Sightings email, covering wildlife across the reserve. Those providing a mobile number can also join the club’s WhatsApp sightings group.
