There’s great news for bored kids and their parents this summer – Theatre Week is back at The Acorn Theatre in Worksop!
This August, the curtain rises on one of The Acorn’s highlights of the year – Theatre Week! And it’s not just Her Majesty celebrating a jubilee, as this is Theatre Week’s 30th year – and they’ve even put on an extra week to celebrate!

Theatre Week gives children aged five to 12 a week of singing, dancing, acting and fun where they’ll rehearse and perform a spectacular musical on a real theatre stage in just five days! The show is kept top secret until the week, but is guaranteed to be a toe-tapping, side-splitting musical specially written for Theatre Week by best-selling writer, Craig Hawes! Craig’s shows are hits across the globe, and Theatre Week gives children the unique opportunity to work alongside the writer himself!

“Each fun-packed day runs from 9.00am to 4.00pm with games, competitions, prizes, tuck shop and a party afternoon!” says director Hayla Hawes. “But the real highlight for children is getting to rehearse and perform on a real stage with incredible scenery and props, amazingly cool costumes, professional lights, radio mics and sound system. Parents are always blown away by what their children can produce in just five days!

“We’re so excited to be celebrating our 30th year of Theatre Week this summer, it’s amazing to think of the thousands of local children who’ve performed with us over all those years, and each summer seems to get bigger and better. But to mark this massive milestone we’ve added an extra week of fun and planned some special surprises so we can guarantee a magical summer the children will never forget!”

Places are limited, with Week 1 already sold out and only a few spaces remaining, so early booking is essential. To find out more and book a place, visit www.theatreweek.co.uk or call 03456 123813.
