Inner Wheel Club of Retford

The two-day Inner Wheel National Conference held in Harrogate proved to be a brilliant event. Guest speaker Angela Rippon delivered an excellent and highly entertaining talk. Other speakers represented charities that have received support from Inner Wheel over the past year, including Smile Train (rectifying cleft palates), Chameleon Buddies (supporting women in the UK and Kenya following stoma surgery), Arthritis Action, and Medical Detection Dogs.

Entertainment on the first evening was provided by the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Brass Band, who performed a wide selection of music, concluding with Last Night of the Proms. The final President’s Evening featured a live duo playing music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with some of the audience dressing in the style of their chosen decade. It was an interesting, lively, and thoroughly enjoyable event for all involved.

On a different note, those who have watched Adolescence may be aware of the large number of school uniforms (including many spares) used during the production. These uniforms have now been generously donated to NPAC (National Police Aid Convoy), and members of the Inner Wheel Club of Retford have assisted in packing them ready for their journey to Africa, where they will be donated to local schools.

Quite a month! Those interested in joining the club are welcome to attend meetings, which take place on the second Thursday of each month at Ye Olde Bell (5.30pm for 6.00pm). A quiz evening and pie and pea supper will also be held on Saturday 10th May at Clarborough Village Hall.
