Retford Inner Wheel is proud to support InterCare, based in Leicester, which has recently sent a container of medical supplies to Sierra Leone. This aid will benefit six partner healthcare units and a children’s hospital. A part of the club’s contribution involves sending used stamps and foreign or outdated currency to InterCare.
Members are looking forward to visiting The Longest Yarn at Southwell Minster. This 80-metre, 3D depiction in wool illustrates the D-Day landings on 6th June 1944. The artwork comprises 80 scenes, each one a metre long, showing the build-up to D-Day, the landings, and the aftermath. Southwell is the first UK stop for The Longest Yarn, which has previously been exhibited in France.
At the next meeting, the club will welcome a speaker whose family came to the UK as a result of the Kindertransport – a train journey that saved the lives of his father and aunt.
