Another excellent month for Retford Inner Wheel. The Retford Club is a part of ‘Inner Wheel District 22’, which covers Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
The International Committee of the District recently hosted a visit to Taskers strawberry farm at North Wheatley. An interesting tractor ride and tour of the strawberry farm was followed by a delicious strawberry cream tea. Stephen Tasker gave an informative insight into the strawberry (and raspberry) farm. The car parking was organised by Retford Rotary club and the monies raised are to go to NPAC (National Police Aid Convoy). A most successful day.
As a club they also put together and donated baby bundles for new mothers and their babies. These go to help wherever they are needed in the world; NPAC containers have gone to help in many countries including The Gambia, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Zambia.
The baby bundles contain sheets, towelling nappies, towels, knitted baby jumpers and cardigans, soap, vests, baby clothes and a cuddly toy – all fastened together in a colourful blanket. The new mums can use the blanket as a sling to carry the baby.
The Inner Wheel club meets on the second Thursday of every month at Ye Olde Bell at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start. Visitors are always welcome.
