Retford club members who attended the Inner Wheel National Conference in Blackpool had a wonderful time.
International President Zenaidy Farcon from The Philippines attended the event alongside National President Karen Davies. The Conference was held in The Blackpool Winter Gardens and was a great success.
The business part of the three-day meeting included the AGM. For Retford members the conference began with a visit to see Mamma Mia in the Winter Gardens. There were also speakers from charities supported over the last year by Inner Wheel, which included The Air Ambulance (the National President’s charity of the year).
Adam Henson from Countryfile spoke with humour and passion about his life and about sustainable farming. Chizzy Akudolu (of Holby City, Casualty and Strictly Come Dancing) closed the Conference and as well as entertaining the audience with humorous tales of her life experience she spoke very movingly of her battle with depression. Chizzy stayed for the final evening’s entertainment and danced along with members to the award winning The Other Guys.
This final evening was held in the fabulous Tower Ballroom – perhaps fortunately Craig Revel Horwood was not there to judge! A fantastic time was had by all attendees.
