It’s amazing what you can do with a tennis ball!
Members of Retford Inner Wheel learned just how important a tennis ball can be to our physical wellbeing when Peter Rixham came to talk at their monthly meeting about Myofascial Release Self-Massage. Peter began his talk by explaining that he had chosen to go into osteopathy rather than any of the other complementary practices because it allowed him to diagnose rather than just treat a condition.
Myofascial Release is a type of physical therapy and massage technique that targets tension held in the layer of tissue just under the skin called the fascia, which supports and surrounds the muscles. The technique involves applying pressure to the trigger points in the fascia to gently relax the muscles, releasing tension and tightness.
Enter the tennis ball. Whether it is between your back and a wall to give lower back relief or under the sole of your foot (without putting weight on it) to ease aching feet, a few minutes a day with this technique can make quite a difference to your wellbeing.
The meeting continued with the business where a preliminary decision was made to hold a Charity Lunch in May. To find out more about the club email email@example.com.
