Haydn’s The Creation

by | 20 March 2019 | Music, Retford, Worksop

A performance of Haydn’s much-loved oratorio The Creation will be performed in the Chapel at Worksop College on Saturday 30th March, starting at 7.30pm. The Creation, a ground-breaking work in its time, is remarkable and original in its use of the orchestra to describe the Book of Genesis. It is full of delight. Great whales, sunrise, the rolling seas and even leaping tigers are evoked in a fantastic tapestry of sound.

Two choirs will be performing in this concert; the North Notts Chamber Choir and the Worksop College Chapel Choir. Orchestral accompaniment is by the Mountgarret Concert Orchestra, together with talented professional vocal soloists. It will be conducted by Timothy Uglow, Worksop College’s Director of Music.

Tickets for this concert, which will include interval refreshment in the college’s Great Hall, are priced at £11.00 (£10.00 concessions, £5.00 children). They are available by contacting the Box Office at Worksop College on 01909 537100.
