Gainsborough Snappers Camera Club

Snappers is a self-help photography group, where members help run the club and its activities. The May meeting was an excellent example of this at its best. Many members seldom use flash, and even less so in a studio environment. It had been mentioned that it would be helpful to have some training.

Two members with both expertise and equipment volunteered and worked together to run a tutorial. They demonstrated the way studio lights work and how to set up a camera to make best use of the light they give to achieve a good result.

Russ Smith and Paul Lancaster offered invaluable advice and Gerry Kemp kindly volunteered to be the model.

It was an excellent session and the members who attended were able to go home with some well-lit portraits. The challenge for the June meeting is to work on just one of these at home to refine it and to return with it for critique in June. After this Russ and Paul will talk about introducing more than one light and members will be able to have a go. Members are asked to be prepared to model for each other and to bring any photogenic props they may have to add interest.

The group hopes to get out for some photography trips during the summer months. Any suggestions or offers to organise a get together will be welcomed. If any readers are responsible for photogenic sites and could offer to welcome members and their cameras, Snappers would be pleased to hear from them via the contact details on the website.
