With the summer on its way there’s no better time for a walk through the Nottinghamshire countryside and the Friends of Daneshill Lakes Nature Reserve can suggest an excellent three to four-mile trail linking its Torworth base to its much larger sister, Idle Valley Nature Reserve.
Leaving the south-east side of Daneshill Lakes, the marked trail follows local public footpaths to the pretty village of Sutton cum Lound, from thence to the Idle Valley, where at the Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre homemade cakes and a cuppa await.
Both Daneshill Lakes and the Idle Valley Nature Reserve are managed by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and offer tranquil walks with plenty of nature to see, from birds to flowers, butterflies to dragonflies.
The Friends of Daneshill Lakes will next be meeting on Monday 22nd May at 7.00pm at the Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre, Great North Road, Retford DN22 8SG. Anyone with an interest in Daneshill Lakes is welcome. The Friends organise community nature events, fundraise or carry out practical conservation work.
