There is nothing better to lift the spirits than to visit a beautiful garden — dust off winter cobwebs, enjoy the beauty of early spring flowers and simply to be outside in the fresh air. To see spring bulbs planted en masse is a rare treat and one which can be enjoyed at Bolham Manor in Retford (DN22 9JG) for one day only — from 11.00am to 3.00pm on Sunday 1st March.
Stroll around this three acre garden and enjoy the atmosphere of this lovely place, and enjoy tea and cake. As you enter you are greeted by the ‘Dancing Willow Ladies’ amidst swathes of snowdrops and narcissus. Your eyes are drawn to the occasional well positioned sculpture or topiary feature guiding you through to other areas of the garden and orchard, where even more carpets of snowdrops and early bulbs will greet you.
There is partial wheelchair access to parts of the garden and there will be plants for sale, refreshments in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Your visit will raise funds for cancer and nursing charities. For more information about the beneficiaries please visit www.ngs.org.uk.
