Girlguiding has been part of life in Retford and surrounding villages since the 1920s, offering a ‘girl only’ space for Rainbows (age five to seven years), Brownies (age seven to 10 years), Guides (age 10 to 14 years) and Rangers (14 to 18 years). Girls are able to learn new skills, grow in confidence and develop self-esteem through a fun-based programme provided by their leaders but with input from the girls.
Currently, there are over 30 units in and around Retford providing 360 places for girls to enjoy being with their friends, have new experiences, learn to work together and discover their potential.
To continue to provide this high level of opportunity to our young ladies, Girlguiding we need more volunteers in many different roles. Maybe you were a member and would like to become involved again, or you now have daughters joining the association and wish to give your support? There are lots of ways you can volunteer — it’s flexible and can fit around busy lifestyles. We are looking to recruit:
- Uniformed adult leaders to help run units on a weekly basis (full training and support will be given).
- Unit helpers to help out regularly at weekly meetings.
- Occasional helpers to help at events and some weekly meetings.
- Experienced individuals who could assist leaders with unit bookkeeping.
