All Saints Church in Eaton is delighted to announce that it has re-opened for services and events following the installation of a new heating and lighting system. This work was made possible thanks to generous support of our local community as well as grants from Councillor Ogle, Nottinghamshire County Council, Benefact Trust, The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham and The Rotary Club of Retford’s Percy Laws Committee.
Not only will this new energy-efficient system reduce the building’s carbon footprint in line with its aim of becoming an Eco Church in 2025, it will also be more accommodating for worshippers and its many visitors. It also completes the project to transform the building into a community hub for the village.
In addition to its regular monthly coffee morning from 10.00am on the third Saturday of every month, All Saints is organising several special events in May.
Cakes and cream teas will be available between 2.30pm and 5.00pm on Monday 5th May as part of the national celebrations for the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Commemorative events will also be shown on a big screen. This will be followed by a special service at 6.30pm on Sunday 11th May which will be based on an Allied Forces thanksgiving service that took place in Hamburg at the end of the war, using parts of the Order of Service that was brought back in 1945 by the grandfather of one of the churchwardens.
All Saints’ popular annual Spring Fayre will also take place on Saturday 17th May, featuring craft, preserve, cake and plant stalls, refreshments, a tombola, raffle and children’s lucky dip.
