East Markham WI May 2021

by | 4 May 2021 | Retford, Social Group, WI

As they still have no firm idea of when they can meet face-to-face again, East Markham WI are continuing their monthly meetings through Zoom.
In March they had a cookery demonstration, when member Alena demonstrated how to make Coconut Haystacks. This is a simple recipe of three ingredients – coconut, icing sugar and an egg – and so easy to make. The ingredients are mixed together and pressed into dampened eggcups before turning them out onto a baking tray. Cook for about 15 minutes at 170 degrees. When cool they can be decorated with melted chocolate. This was a first virtual demonstration for Alena and everyone said it had been very successful. Following questions there was time for members to chat amongst themselves.
In April there was a talk on ‘Container Gardening’ and May will be the group’s Annual Meeting, followed by a talk from journalist and East Markham Gazette editor Bill Arthur. In June they hope to be travelling virtually along the Chesterfield Canal.
Membership was due for renewal in April and thanks go to those who have rejoined the group. New members are always welcome. They are a friendly bunch with a wide range of topics and events to entertain and inspire. If you are interested in joining them please email eastmarkhamsec@nottswi.org.uk or call 01777 871567.
