East Markham WI

The September meeting of East Markham WI was a Harvest Supper, with members asked to bring a donation for the local food bank. At tables decorated with autumn leaves, nuts and cones, 27 members were served a choice of butternut squash or tomato and basil soup accompanied by bread rolls and butter, followed by a choice of apple or apple and strawberry crumble with custard or lemon cheesecake with raspberries and cream, all accompanied by tea or coffee.
After the raffle was drawn, Alison and Abby led members in singing harvest songs followed by flautist Stephanie, who played Fields of Gold and Hallelujah. This was a lovely ending to their Harvest celebration. The very generous donations for the food bank filled the table to overflowing; these have been delivered and were gratefully received.
The November meeting was a talk by Steve Ash on Wentworth Woodhouse, the former home of the Earls Fitzwilliam and the Lady Mabel College of Physical Education.
New members and visitors are always welcome to join a session and the visitor fee is £4.00.
