Spring is approaching, so the East Markham and Askham Gardeners’ Association is getting busy for talks and trading.
The first talk of the new season is Tuesday 14th March at 7.30pm at the East Markham Village Hall, NG22 0SS (free, everyone welcome). The talk is by Peter Farrow on his favourite topic: ‘Growing Gladioli’. Peter is a well-known personality in the gladioli exhibition world so the talk will be very informative.
March also sees the start of fortnightly trading sessions on the East Markham allotments. The first is on Sunday 26th March at 9.30am to 11.00am. There will be a good range of essential garden supplies on offer at very reasonable prices (and an additional slight reduction for paid-up members of the Association, which remains at £5.00 per household per year).
To reach the allotments go down Plantation Road, turn into Plantation Avenue, turn right and then left and you’re on the allotments! Plenty of parking space, help available with heavier loads if required (eg bags of compost). Cash payments only please.
Finally, the East Markham Spring Flower Show will be at the Village Hall on Tuesday 11th April, set-up from 7.00pm, show open from 7.30pm.
