Started in the 1950s as Doncaster Cine Guild at the height of enthusiasm for cine film, Doncaster Movie Makers has evolved over the years, adapting to the changing film formats and equipment. Yet the club is essentially the same as the original members set out to be — keen, enthusiastic, amateur film makers, who help each other produce films and advise on new equipment and editing software.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced filmmaker, Doncaster Movie Makers exists to bring like-minded individuals together to share knowledge, have fun and explore the fascinating world of filmmaking — from script to screen. Or you might just like to watch films.
They have demonstrations, visiting speakers and film competitions. As a club, they also film local events and attractions, such as the Tour de Yorkshire. This year, films are being shown on themes such as ‘What I did today’ and competitions will be held for films inspired by the word ‘AFT’ and music videos.
The club’s first meeting of the season is on Wednesday 25th September, at 7.30pm, at Flintwood Methodist Church, Lansdowne Road, Intake, Doncaster DN2 6QN and then continuing to meet every week until April.
