Daneshill Lakes, a designated local nature reserve near Torworth, has provided a welcome escape for visitors since lockdown with its lakeside and woodland walks offering tranquillity and nature. During May, the Friends of Daneshill Lakes will be adding a little extra value with two events.
They will be joining the Daneshill Sailing Club on Sunday 15th May for their annual ‘Have a Go’ day, and will be inviting visitors to spin the tombola barrel and pick (fingers crossed) winning tickets for a variety of prizes. This event runs from 11.30am to 4.00pm.
On Queen’s Jubilee Day, Sunday 5th June, at the Torworth Festival on the village playing field, they will have their ever-popular second-hand tool sales stand, also offering a tool sharpening service. Open from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
The Friends are a support group assisting both Nottinghamshire County Council (which owns Daneshill Lakes) and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which manages the site. Active since 2014, not only do they carry out physical conservation work to ensure a happy visitor experience and provide suitable habitat for wildlife, but they also raise funds for things needed on the Reserve.
