It has been another busy couple of weeks at the local RSPCA animal centre. New arrivals include little Milo, who was in a terrible state with matted fur and a severe bacterial ear infection. Milo was given a trial on strong antibiotics, but sadly Milo’s condition worsened and now he needs surgery. A bilateral total ear canal ablation is completed in two stages and the cost of this critical operation can be several thousand pounds. With a potential second COVID-19 lockdown looming, this diagnosis is a massive blow to the centre but the team is determined not to let Milo down like he has been before. He has become a firm favourite with staff and loves getting in the compound for a sniff around and a sofa cuddle.
The local RSPCA animal centre is only able to help animals like Milo thanks to support from the community. There are many ways to help the RSPCA Doncaster Rotherham and District Branch with its mission to re-home and rehabilitate animals, including volunteering, leaving a legacy, donating cash or goods, sponsorship through the Safe Haven programme and attending events. There are RSPCA charity shops at Bawtry, Maltby, Rossington and Thorne as well as an eBay shop. The animal centre re-homes animals in its care and has a pet supplies store on site for all your requirements. The branch also provides a pet cremation service and a memorial garden for your beloved pets. Visit www.rspcadoncasterrotherham.org.uk. To donate £5.00, text ‘RSPCADRB’ to 70085.
