Retford Library’s Summer Poetry Evening

Join Retford Library staff for a relaxing evening of poetry. Take along a poem suitable for a summer’s evening, or just listen to others. Booking advisable. Tickets £2.50 to include refreshments.
Sound of Musings – A talk by Bryony Wood on her recently published book
Monday 11th September, 2.00pm to 4.00pm
Bryony will be reading from her book and sharing stories from her own life. Be inspired by the adventures of Maria from the Sound of Music, the flibbertigibbet, nun-turned-governess as she discovers the life she was born to live. Make a moment to muse upon questions of life, love and faith. It’s honest, quirky, and quite a lot of fun… themed refreshments will be served. Tickets £1.00 to include refreshments. Booking advised.
Keep Calm and Carry Yarn
Thursday 10th and 24th August, 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Fortnightly sessions. Bring along your own craft project to work on and have a chat with others over coffee and biscuits. £1.00 to include refreshments.
Retford Library Writers’ Group
Thursday 3rd and 17th August, 2.00pm to 4.00pm
Fortnightly sessions. Come along, listen and share. An informal friendly group with members at different stages of the writing process, including beginners.
There will be no Rattle Rhyme and Roll during the school summer holidays and staff look forward to welcoming you back in September.
The Summer Reading Challenge will take place over the summer holidays at Retford Library. Keep your children reading this summer with rewards and activities throughout. Exciting craft activities will take place every Thursday morning in August. Check with the library for more details.
Retford Library has a selection of new and exciting board games for a range of ages for you to enjoy throughout the library, as well as a fascinating local heritage collection and also offers free use of Ancestry and the British Newspaper Archive on library PCs.
