Philip Larkin: a talk by Rob White

Thursday 6th October, 2.00pm
For National Poetry Day, Retford Library has chosen to celebrate the centenary of Philip Larkin’s birth. Larkin enthusiast, Rob White, will share some insights into the life and works of the great poet. Rob will read and discuss some of Larkin’s best-loved poems, as well as introduce one or two which are less well-known. Tickets £1.00 to include refreshments. Booking advisable.

Hammer Horror!

Monday 31st October, 6.30pm
In his annual Halloween talk, local horror enthusiast Martin Jones offers an entertaining guide to the legendary Hammer Film Studios. Expect fangs, fake blood, screaming maidens and good triumphing over evil! Tickets £2.50 to include refreshments. Booking advisable.

Crime Café

Ask at the library for October dates and themes
An informal reading café for fans of thrillers and crime novels. £1.00 including refreshments.

Keep Calm and Carry Yarn

Thursday 6th and 20th October, 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Bring along your own craft project to work on and have a chat with others over coffee and biscuits. £1.00 including refreshments.

Retford Library Writers’ Group

Alternate Thursdays, 2.00pm to 4.00pm (not 6th October)
Come along, listen and share. An informal friendly group with members at different stages of the writing process, including beginners.

Rattle Rhyme and Roll

Wednesdays and Fridays, 10.00am to 10.20am
Stories and rhymes for the under-fives in the lovely Children’s library. Just turn up and join in the fun.
