Heritage Open Day: Creativity Unwrapped

Saturday 9th September, 10.00am to 3.00pm

Go along and explore the Library’s heritage area to discover how local people and places have influenced our town’s cultural heritage. View some hidden treasures from the collection including maps, local newspapers and more! Free and no booking required. Just drop in.

Sound of Musings – A talk by Bryony Wood

Monday 11th September, 2.00pm to 4.00pm

Bryony will be reading from her book and sharing stories from her own life. Be inspired by the adventures of Maria from the Sound of Music, the flibbertigibbet, nun-turned-governess as she discovers the life she was born to live. Make a moment to muse upon questions of life, love and faith. Tickets £1.00 to include refreshments. Booking advised.

Poetry Café

Monday 2nd October, 2.00pm to 3.30pm

In celebration of National Poetry Day, the Poetry Café will have the theme of Refuge. Take along a poem on the theme to share, or just listen to others. Booking advisable – £1.00 to include refreshments.

Chris Sidwells – Cycling Legends 02 TI-Raleigh

Author Chris Sidwells discusses his latest book about the team sponsored by the Nottingham bicycle manufacturer Raleigh, which won many of the world’s biggest cycling road races, including the Tour de France, during the second half of the 1970s and the early 1980s. Rattle Rhyme and Roll

Re-starting on 13th September -–Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.00am to 10.20am

Stories and rhymes for the under fives in the children’s library. Just turn up and join in.

The Summer Reading Challenge will come to an end on Saturday 2nd September. Make sure your children complete the challenge by then.

Retford Library has a selection of new and exciting board games for a range of ages as well as a fascinating local heritage collection and also offers free use of Ancestry and the British Newspaper Archive on library PCs.
