There has certainly been some very mixed weather in early spring: hail, snow, bone-chilling winds, pelting rain and warm sunshine, frequently all on the same day! Hopefully it will soon settle somewhat, and we can look forward to some outdoor activities.

For the North Nottinghamshire Group of the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, the particular one planned for May is a guided walk around a private woodland that is managed by its owner for nature conservation. This is a rare opportunity to see this wood and some of its beautiful and abundant wildlife. Bluebells, wood anemones, primroses and celandines can all be seen flowering at different times and birds and insects thrive there. Assuming the weather is good, there will be a picnic in the wood at the end of the walk with a chance to chat and ask questions.

Places will be limited so it’s important to register your interest as soon as possible. The wood is approximately 15 miles from Retford, just beyond Gainsborough, and the walk will be held on Sunday 15th May at 2.00pm to 4.00pm approximately.
