Citizens Advice Bassetlaw thanks their volunteers for making a huge difference to people’s lives

Citizens Advice Bassetlaw celebrated the work of their volunteers — who dedicate their time to solving people’s problems and making a difference to the lives of people within our community. Volunteers Week 2018 ran from 1st to 8th June and highlighted the work of our local office — helping people in the community struggling with issues which include debt, housing, benefit and employment queries.

More than 50 volunteers at Citizens Advice Bassetlaw donate their time each week and last year helped 4,481 new and repeat clients with their problems.

Citizens Advice Bassetlaw offers a wide range of voluntary roles including advisers (for face to face, webchat and telephone delivery), administrators, researchers (for the advocacy work we do) and for the board of trustees.

Laura Thornley, the Operations Manager at Citizens Advice Bassetlaw, said “As a thank you to show appreciation of the time, support and commitment given by our volunteers, we held an afternoon tea party for our hardworking volunteers. Our charity is reliant upon funding and our charity could not be the service it is, without the many free hours (averaging at around 12,000 hours per year) that they provide to the Bassetlaw community.”

Citizens Advice Bassetlaw is a local independent charity and relies solely upon funding and the support of volunteers to continue its service. If you wish to donate/contribute to funding for the service, please contact ceo@bassetlawcab.org.uk.

The service is free, confidential, impartial and independent. Nationally, 23,000 Citizens Advice volunteers help provide support in 2,900 locations across England and Wales — helping 2.7m people every year. Thanks to the contribution volunteers play in local Citizens Advice, two out of every three clients have their problem solved and four out of five say the advice received improved their lives.
