The national Citizens Advice conference was held in November 2019, at Manchester. Representatives from many of the local Citizens Advice office locations attended the two day conference to discuss and learn about:
- Culture — Achieving change in equality, diversity and inclusion
- Advice — How leading organisations can adapt to meet people’s needs
- Sustainability — Future funding
- Technology — Building responsible technology
- Advocacy — Making sure our voice is as powerful as possible in an ever-changing world.
The Patron of Citizens Advice is HRH, Princess Anne, whose closing speech at the conference referred to the complex issues faced by individuals and how Citizens Advice support those people. Princess Anne promoted the work of Citizens Advice and confirmed the need for this advice to be free, confidential, impartial and independent.
Staff attended from Citizens Advice Bassetlaw. The new Chair of Trustees, Arthur Deakin was invited to meet HRH Princess Anne and spoke to her about how he became involved with Citizens Advice.
“I was very lucky to get the chance to meet HRH Princess Anne and she seemed very interested in the work that we do in Bassetlaw to help people,” he said.
