By the time you read this, Cameron Duffy will be home from his four-week trip of a lifetime to Borneo with Queen Elizabeth’s High School (QEHS) and Camps International.
He and his fellow adventurers could not have packed more into their time on this magical Malaysian island. Digging drainage ditches, building sports facilities, visiting orangutan and sun bears at a rescue centre, sleeping in the jungle, meeting lots of local children and learning to SCUBA dive.
However, none of this would have been possible for Cameron without the huge amount of sponsorship he received from the local community and funding organisations. Cameron would particularly like to thank the following for their support:
- Collections / donations: Staples Dance Academy, Retford Musical Theatre Company and The MOB, Retford Judo Club, Retford Little Theatre, RT Motors, PrimaParty, Proact,
- Grants: Rotary Club of Retford, Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw, The Neil Mackenzie Trust, Get Exploring Trust, Young Explorers Trust
- Printed T Shirt donation: Irontree Design and Print
And finally to Retford Life, for their regular features on his fundraising prior to his departure, which also brought in donations from members of the public.
If you see him out and about in Retford, please do stop him to ask about his trip, he has some great stories to share.
