A big thanks to Life Magazines’ feature on ‘Bicycles that give hope’ in their October 2019 edition. Not only has it been hugely appreciated by those in our community who have so little — in this case, asylum seekers and refugees; but filled a need for those who have had bicycles stored in their shed/garage possibly for years.
We have been contacted by people from Rotherham to almost as far as Scunthorpe to offer children’s, ladies and men’s bikes that are still usable — just need a little repair. They are so happy to find a place for their bikes rather than taking them to the tip.
We have had over two dozen bikes currently donated, which are then taken to the workshop at Doncaster prison where most will be repaired, through the prison’s ‘community payback’ scheme; then passed on to grateful new owners. This is a really nice circuit of appreciation. Bicycles are still welcome — contact Kathy Cowbrough on 01777 706880 or kathy.Cowbrough@gmail.com.
