Beckingham Bowls Club will be holding their Club Triples and Club Ladies Singles events on Saturday 2nd September and Saturday 9th September respectively. Both competitions start at 10.00am, but all entrants need to be at the green please by 9.30am to be included in the draw.
Players from 14 different clubs, including five from as far away as Oakham and Market Rasen, competed in the Club’s Open Pairs Gala Day held on Sunday 16th July. The fundraising day was an outstanding success and was enjoyed by the 56 competitors and several spectators. The weather was glorious and the winners were Ron Sharpe, from Marton, and Beckingham’s Gerald West who beat Ordsall’s Mick Cook and Peter Noble in the final. The trophy and prizes were presented by Carlton Bradley and Samantha Bobyk from the club’s premium sponsor Cliff Bradley and Sons Funeral Directors Ltd. A bouquet of flowers from the Club was presented by Captain Roger Platts to Pam and Gerald West who had recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. The village hall was set out all day like a tea room for competitors to relax in between rounds and enjoy the food provided and prepared by club members and their partners.
The club’s Pairs Competition was held on 5th August and the winners were Bill Bryan and Mick Pilkington, who beat Brian Burton and Pete Cawthorne in the final. It was a most enjoyable day with an excellent turnout from the members.
