Pests, Rust and Plastics. Preventive Conservation in Museums

Exhibition runs until July

What are some of the common threats to museum collections? What preventive measures can be undertaken to preserve artefacts? Why are some plastics difficult to look after? This exhibition gives a glimpse into how museums care for collections for the enjoyment of their visitors and future generations.

A Sense of Place by Ian Davenport

Saturday 22nd July to Saturday 16th September

A Sense of Place is the first major solo art exhibition by Tickhill-based artist Ian Davenport. It represents work completed over the last 18 months whilst studying for a Degree in Fine Art. As a contemporary landscape artist, inspired by the open spaces and big skies of Northern England, this body of work describes an emotional connection to place through a bold use of colour, texture and gestural marks.

Ian said: “Art has taught me how to see the world in sharper focus, to be mindful of the passing seasons, how colour and light changes with the fleeting weather, and how this can bring beauty to an otherwise ordinary view.”
