As part of Bassetlaw Food Bank’s strategy to support those experiencing food insecurity and promote health eating, they have secured funding to trial a Fruit and Veg’ Box subscription scheme. The scheme will provide subsidised fresh produce boxes, costing service users £3.00 for each box and providing around £15.00 worth of produce.
The aim of the scheme is to help those facing food insecurity, or on a low income, to be able to add healthy fresh food to their diet in an affordable and accessible way.
Anyone in Bassetlaw who is receiving Universal Credit or Pension Credits can apply for the scheme, which is currently open, via the Bassetlaw Food Bank website,
Monthly payments of £6.00 are made and the boxes are delivered by their volunteer drivers twice a month for the life of the trial.
They are very grateful to Priory Fruit Shop for their support with the scheme, supplying the wonderful Fruit and Veg’ Boxes, and to the COVID Relief Fund for the funding to trial.
