Aurora Wellbeing Centres

by | 24 October 2024 | Community Event, Local Charity, Retford

Aurora is a cancer charity providing support in the local area for people living with cancer or a long-term health condition. Now that the winter days and dark nights are upon us, it is sometimes a time of year when people struggle with their wellbeing. Aurora is also a community hub for everyone and they offer a range of heritage and wellbeing activities that promote self-care, reduce isolation and help people to reconnect with their community. They have a fully stocked charity shop selling good quality items and their tearooms serve home cooked meals and delicious cakes Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm.

Volunteering

Do you have a few spare hours a week and would like to make a difference in your community? Volunteers are at the heart of what they do at Aurora. They have a range of volunteering ranges available throughout the centre – all you need is enthusiasm! Why not pick up an application form today?

Remembrance at Aurora

As usual, the Aurora Centre will be open for the Remembrance Service which takes place on Memorial Avenue on Sunday 10th November. There will be a display in the Centre in the preceding week focusing on stories and artefacts from the First and Second world Wars and how they affected the people of Bassetlaw.

Celebration of Christmas, Welbeck Chapel

Aurora have been very fortunate to be given access to Welbeck ChapeI to host a ‘Celebration of Christmas’ in December. The Aurora Wellbeing Singers, who meet in the centre every Monday morning, will be giving a concert in the chapel. Singing releases the endorphins which make us feel better and the companionship gained through their singing group can help people through some of the challenges that life throws our way. Tickets will be on sale from the beginning of November and are priced at £15.00, which includes mulled wine and a mince pie on arrival in the Titchfield Library. For more information or to purchase your ticket for this prestigious event please contact Aurora on 01909 470985 or email hospitality@aurorawellbeing.org.uk.
