Aurora is a local cancer charity providing support in Bassetlaw for people living with cancer or a long-term health condition, but also so much more as they can offer a safe a warm environment for everyone, whether they are lonely, want to meet people or take up a new hobby.
They are a community hub offering a range of heritage and wellbeing activities that promote self-care, reduce isolation and help people to reconnect with their community. They have a fully stocked charity shop selling good quality items and their tearooms serve home cooked meals and delicious cakes (currently operating under their winter opening hours of 9.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday).

If art is more your thing, why not join Aurora’s Art Club? Sessions at held on Mondays at 1.30pm to 3.30pm, when you can explore different techniques and materials, from pottery to painting, printmaking to sculpting. The cost is £3.00 per session, including tea, coffee, biscuits, and all materials will be provided. The first session is Monday 6th January; no need to book, just go along.
Look out for more workshops coming up in the New Year.
Fundraising for Aurora
Did you know there are lots of ways you can help fundraise for Aurora? You can organise an event such as a coffee morning or get sponsorship to run a marathon. If you want to climb Kilimanjaro or trek across the Sahara whilst raising money for Aurora, then they’d love to hear from you! Are you having a party to celebrate a special birthday but don’t want people to buy you anything? Then why not ask them to make a donation on the night to Aurora? There are many other ways you can support them too -they collect used stamps and foreign currency (either coins or notes) which they are able to convert into cash and they always welcome good quality clothes, books and toys for their charity shop.
