Aurora is a cancer charity providing support in the local area for people living with cancer or a long-term health condition. But Aurora is not just a cancer charity; they have a variety of support groups, counselling services and recreational activities on offer for the public too as well as a charity shop and tearooms.
Spotlight on… Monday Men’s Group
A new practical group has launched, specifically aimed at men with a cancer diagnosis or long-term health condition. In response to feedback, it is a place where men can learn practical skills whilst socialising with other men.
The new group meets on the fourth Monday of every month in the Centre from 2.00pm to 3.00pm. For more information, please contact Emma Walker on 07794 553619 or email emma.walker@aurorawellbeing.org.uk.
What’s new at Aurora
With the help of a donation from Buzzom Buddies, Aurora has been able to refurbish a room into a bright, warm safe environment where clients can meet with the cancer team or take part in one of the many wellbeing courses organised throughout the year. This room is also available for hire. For more information on hiring this or any other bookable meeting room, please contact admin@aurorawellbeing.org.uk.
Buzzom Buddies is a local support group for women who have experienced breast cancer. They offer emotional support and friendship from other women who have experienced breast cancer, and they meet at Aurora on the second Thursday of every month at 2.30pm until 3.30pm in Valerie’s Tearooms. Please feel free to go along to their next meeting.
For more information, pop in to The Old Library Building, Memorial Avenue, Worksop S80 2BJ or contact Aurora by phone (01909 470985), email (admin@aurorwellbeing.org.uk), visit www.aurorawellbeing.org.uk or find them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
