On Sunday 15th December Twikilin are guest artistes at Ordsall Parish Hall in the second of their 2019/20 programme of music and drama events. Twikilin is an exciting and original French-Algerian duo exploring the magical world of Moroccan Berber musical traditions, matching world music with Western classical music. Led by powerful ancient-echoing vocals of award-winning French-Algerian singer Iness Mezel and Algerian Nora Abdoun, a female Berber traditional percussionist. Songs are sung in Tamazight (Berber), the language of a two-thousand-year-old culture striving to be kept alive. While their powerful and dramatic acoustic music reflects the modern melting pot of world music, you can hear the timeless majesty and space of the Maghreb desert in every note. See www.iness-mezel.com to find out more.
The show starts at 7.30pm and there will be seasonal refreshments as part of the ticket as well as a licensed bar. Contact Peter on 01777 706433 for tickets at £13.00 (£6.00 for under 18s). This is a ‘Live and Local’ performance (formerly Village Ventures) supported by the Arts Council, local councils and local volunteers.
