The 7th Retford Squirrel Drey has now been open for a year and celebrated with a birthday party. During July, the group enjoyed a campfire, a yoga and dance session, and a sports session. Beavers took part in a cycling session in the park and a local walk, while both Scouts and Cubs had fun with water rockets and water games. The month also included a family barbecue for all sections.
The Scout section will see new leadership from September, with Callum and Elijah taking over. Elijah has been helping with Beavers for the past year, but his college commitments have now changed. Both new leaders were youth members in the group. Kenny and Hazel will continue to run the Cub section.
Cubs are looking forward to a weekend camp at the end of September, while Squirrels and Beavers have a day out to the National Space Centre planned for October.
The group will once again be coordinating the Scout Christmas Post this year. Stamps will go on sale on Saturday 22nd November, with all cards delivered by Christmas Eve at the latest, provided the property can be found and accessed. If any local businesses would like to sell stamps and host a post box, please contact Hazel on 07958 696122. The group will also be in touch with last year’s helpers.
Scouting is open to anyone aged four and above, with no upper age limit. Volunteers over 18 will need to complete a DBS check and initial training before joining.
