Some of the 7th Retford Scouts and an Explorer Scout went to the Freezer Camp at Hesley Wood. Here they had a go on a segway, climbing wall, abseiling, inflatables, pellet shooting, toasting giant marshmallows, fairground rides, laser quest and all sorts of other activities.
All sections cooked pancakes ready for Shrove Tuesday. Both Scouts and Beavers had a music evening and everyone achieved their Level One Musician badge.
Cubs have been learning different knots and had fun making some parachutes and flying their teddy bears and small cuddly toys on a zip wire. Beavers also learnt about air activities and had fun making paper aeroplanes and their imaginary flying machines. They all achieved their level one badge.
Cubs and Scouts are looking forward to going to The Big Weekend at Newark in May. There will be approximately 3,000 on camp from Nottinghamshire Scouts.
If anyone would be interested in coming and joining the team of volunteers, contact Hazel Newstead on 7thretford@gmail.com.
The group is looking for more help with the Beaver Colony (aged 5¾ up to 8½) and also the Scout section (aged 10 to 14½ years). In the future the group would love to open a Squirrel Drey, the youngest section of Scouting, so again volunteers would be very welcome to get in touch.
