Retford Men’s Probus Club

Retford Men’s Probus Club has been running since 1971. Meetings take place at the Westhill Community Centre, Ordsall, at 10.00am every other Friday. If you want to get involved please view the club’s website,

Well what a good AGM we had back on 19th May, and a great lunch following on. It was fascinating listening to all the members contributions, making the meeting a great success.

The new president Roy Evans was extremely sorry he could not attend his ‘special day’, but he had one or two health issues to sort out before driving 1,500 miles down to Brittany and the Loire Valley on the following Sunday, two days later. He had to show the ‘medics’ he was fit enough to be able to go.

The new committee have had their first meeting of the year, and all congratulated the previous president George Teasdale for arranging his trip to RAF Scampton.

Members also discussed the ‘Speaker Programme’ for next year, and secretary Dennis Beevers has everything in hand, with the first meeting for the next season being on 8th September. Booklets are being printed and the committee will have a supply available at the first meeting. The Christmas Lunch has now been booked at the Ye Olde Bell, and either Dennis or Mick Blackman will update members in September.

The president may have changed, but the ethos of Retford Men’s Probus Club hasn’t. Remember, bring a friend and introduce him to Probus. It’s only by building our membership that will help this club survive.

The club meets every other Friday morning at Westhill Community Centre, in Ordsall at 10.00am. See the programme of speakers on the club’s website. If you are interested in joining, please email secretary Dennis Beevers at and he will give you more details.
