The Village Harmony Choir have been busy this last few months, learning new repetoire ready to perform at various venues this summer. Their annual ‘May Show’, held in Sturton-le-Steeple Village Hall on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th May, was a great success; the choir performed a lovely selection of music in three part harmony, including several Disney songs, old favourites like Wonderful World and Somethin’ Stupid, and show tunes including Singing in the Rain and Memory from Cats. This was also the first occasion for the choir to show off its new jade green uniform. Profits raised from this show went to North Leverton Chapel and Community Hub, in keeping with Village Harmony’s philosophy of donating money to local causes.
The choir has performed in Woodhouse, Sheffield since then, and are due to perform in Clarbrough Church on Saturday 8th July at 7.30pm. Unfortunately, the planned concert on Friday 2nd June in Sturton-le-Steeple Church had to be cancelled by the church due to unforeseen circumstances. The choir hopes to be able to perform there next year.
Village Harmony will be performing at Sturton-le-Steeple Village Hall on Saturday 22nd July at 7.30pm. The annual ‘Summer Serenade’, an evening of romantic summer songs, has become very popular with regular audiences. You are invited to bring your own bottle of wine if you like, and organisers provide nibbles…crisps, nuts, chocolates, etc, and also soft drinks, all presented on attractively decorated tables around which the audience sit, instead of in rows as you would at a ‘normal’ concert! Tickets for this special evening are just £6 and are available from June Anderson on 01777 704134 or June Taylor-Rabjohn on 01427 880965. New members, as ever, are very welcome to join the choir; come to a concert, see what we do, and have a chat with our Musical Director Judith Corker.
